Proven tips and tricks to get 100% of parents onboard

If you have parent e-mails or phone numbers before back to school night

  1. Send e-mail or sms invitations before back to school night from your class directory
  2. Check on the status of the invitations before back to school night
    • E-mail bounced - the e-mail provided is not valid
    • E-mail delivered - the e-mail is valid, but the parent hasn't joined your class yet
    • Parent name and contact information - the parent became a member and now can invite other family members to join as well
  3. Print flyers for parents who haven't joined yet from your class directory and distribute
    • Each flyer has an individual code per family, so it is important that you give families the right flyers
  4. At Back To School Night walk parents through signup and have simple things they can do on ClassTag ready
  5. After a week review the status in the directory again and resend e-mail or sms invitations to any parents who still might not have joined

Teacher Pro tip: "At Back to School Night I take my phone and go around parents with my class directory page in edit mode, so that I can add their e-mails and/or cell phone numbers or check in if they have questions right on the spot! With ClassTag parents start getting e-mails even before then join, so I want to get them in the system quickly", Katherine 3rd grade Teacher

If you do not have parent e-mails or phone numbers before back to school night

  1. Insert student list in your class directory and print out flyers
  2. Send flyers back with students in the backpacks - please note that there is an individual access code for each student
  3. Check on the status of signups before back to school night
  4. Print flyers for parents who haven't joined yet from your class directory and distribute at Back to School Night
  5. At Back To School Night walk parents through signup and have simple things they can do on ClassTag ready
  6. After a week review the status in the directory again and resend e-mail invitations to any parents who still might not have joined

Teacher Pro tip: "Set up a few announcements and events on ClassTag before Back to School Night so that when they sign up they are welcomed and they have a few easy things to do or look at to get comfortable", Mrs. Waller Kindergarten Teacher

Pinned announcements are a great way to welcome parents and share resources. You can unpin them at any time or update the content.

That's about it! Have a wonderful Back to School night and amazing family support for the rest of the year!
