Inviting a parent to join a class on ClassTag requires a teacher to have at least either the parent’s email address or mobile number. We understand that some parents might have two methods of communication (an email address and a mobile number) that you want to add in your class Directory. This article discusses the steps on how to accomplish that on ClassTag.

Before performing the steps below, please note that updating a parent profile will only apply if the parent hasn’t completed a profile yet. A good indicator that the parent hasn’t completed a profile is when you see a message that says “The user hasn't responded to the invitation yet” or an “Edit” button when you click on the parent’s profile. Here’s an example.

If the parent has already completed his profile, the teachers won’t be able to add a second method to communicate anymore for security purposes. Parents can do this on their end by going to their “Account Settings”. Once the parent has updated their profile, the changes will also be reflected for the teacher to see.

To update the parent’s profile and add another communication method (email address or mobile number), please follow these steps:

1. First, add the parent’s information by following the steps on this article. Please choose either Method 1 or Method 2.

2. Once the parent has been added, locate the parent’s profile in your class Directory and click on it.

3. Click the “Edit” button.

4. Add the mobile number or email address and then click “Save”.

5. The new information will now be added on the parent's profile together with the previous.
