An important first-step in creating a positive ClassTag experience for all staff and family users is to ensure that your school and classroom settings are properly configured.
SCHOOL SETTINGS
As a School Leader, you have access to configure appropriate settings for your school page, and select how teachers and guardians can use ClassTag at your school.
Getting Started
Select your school page from the 3 horizontal bars in the top left corner.
Then, select the “Settings” tab from the left menu.
Select for whom you’d like teachers to be able to create announcements for:
All Classrooms In Your School
Only Classrooms In Their Associated Grade Level
Only Classrooms They Own (Recommended)
Select for whom you’d like guardians to be able to initiate conversations with:
Any Other Parent In the School
No Other Parents (Recommended)
Allow Teachers to Decide In Each of Their Classrooms
INVITATIONS
When a guardian enters their user profile within "Account Settings" in ClassTag, they have the ability to add other co-parents for their student. As a School Leader, you have the ability to turn this feature ON or OFF.
CLASSROOM COMMUNICATIONS
When creating announcements, teachers have access to send announcements using any of the following enhancements. As a School Leader, you can select which announcement enhancements you’d like teachers to have access to or not.
Allow Teachers to Send Priority Announcements (Read More Here)
Allow Teachers to Send Voice Broadcasts (Read More Here)
Allow Teachers to Send Student Broadcasts (Read More Here)
Allow Teachers to Use Social Sharing (Read More Here)
You can also control guardians' access to classroom directories from the school level.
STAFF
Connect schools can choose to turn off some of ClassTag's commerce features, including classroom funds and supply lists for all staff members and classrooms.
SIS ROSTERING
For schools who are syncing their data with either Clever, ClassLink, or their SIS, you can select to allow teachers to also create manual classrooms in addition to the classrooms created by your data sync. This option is great for teachers who sponsor after-school clubs, etc. for which automated rosters are not created by your SIS.
This setting will remain grayed out if you are not currently syncing your data, in which manual classroom creation is always allowed.
SCHOOL COLOR AND THEMES
School Leaders can also update their page branding here. Learn More About School Themes and Colors.
Once your settings are configured properly, select UPDATE SCHOOL.
CLASSROOM SETTINGS
As a Classroom Teacher, you have access to configure appropriate settings for your classroom pages. Classroom settings must be adjusted for each classroom you own. Note that some of these settings may be overwritten by your school leaders’ preferences.
Getting Started
Select one of your classroom pages from the 3 horizontal bars in the top left corner.
Then, select the “Settings” tab from the left menu.

NOTE: Teachers will need to update the settings for each classroom they own.
If a classroom is no longer being used, a teacher can select to “Graduate” this class.
WEEKLY SUMMARY
There is one other CLASSROOM setting worth mentioning which can be found within the WEEKLY SUMMARY tab.
By default, a Weekly Summary will send an additional notification to guardians on a specific date and time selected by the teacher. The purpose of the Weekly Summary is to notify the guardian of upcoming events in the next week. This summary is only sent when there are EVENTS/ACTIVITIES listed for the coming week.
If you’d like to disable the Weekly Summary from being sent, you will need to select the WEEKLY SUMMARY tab and deselect the checkbox for each of your classrooms.
